Spendlove's two goals boost OCU past Huston-Tillotson 2-1

OKLAHOMA CITYThe Oklahoma City University men's soccer team defeated Huston-Tillotson (Texas) 2-1 at Stars Field on Wednesday night. 

Chris Spendlove, a sophomore from Liverpool, England, led the Stars to victory with two goals both assisted by John Dill, a sophomore from Broken Arrow, Okla. Dill triggered both goals on corner kicks.

“It was a hard fought game, and we did enough to win this one,” said OCU coach Brian Harvey.

Huston-Tillotson scored off of a penalty kick in the second half of the game. Andy Fitzpatrick, a sophomore from Kansas City, Mo., held Huston-Tillotson off with three saves. 

OCU improved to a 2-0 record and will face Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) on Friday at 12:30 p.m. in Siloam Springs, Ark., in the John Brown Classic.
